projectSpring is coming to an end with our last bazaar at MAAD on September 5th and 6th. Still exploring the ideas of dreams of the children, we will be showcasing art works done by the kids and they are up for adoption.

Remember on how we were a tiny little seed in the flower pots during the first bazaar ? Looking back at how much we have grown during HortPark and MAAD August, we have finally grown into a colorful tree with bloom flowers and shiny petals.

Witness as projectSpring showcases its final form of success and joy in helping out the kids at Children’s Cancer Foundation in MAAD September.

MAAD August was rather special for projectSpring as we exhibited various works by the kids including two large pieces. These works are still up for adoption for one very last bazaar during MAAD September.
MAAD August as well was filled with creativity and fun activities as our team arranged the exhibition uniquely. We also created an installation piece.

Do catch our last bazaar in September were we will be giving up free flowers as a token of appreciation to the public for their support of Children’s Cancer Foundation.

projectSpring was involved in GardenTECH 2009, an biennial garden event organized by the National Park. On 14th to 18th August, our team strived under the sun but we had s much fun interacting with the public and organized some paper folding sessions. At the same time, we also had volunteers joined us in this event.

Above are the snapshots we took during the event. We also decorated our booth with the kid’s works which are still up for adoption, for one last bazaar in the upcoming MAAD in September. Do check out for the details soon :)

Last but not least, we would like to thank National Park and all the volunteers who have made our booth successful. Lets work again for the good cause :)

Nikhil, another origami enthusiast has also volunteered with us by folding Ganesha, the God of Knowledge in Hinduism. projectSpring chose this design as we found out that many of the beneficiaries, have to terminate their studies and schooling experience due to their cancer state. With these cards, we hope that the children will have the chance to gain knowledge in school and be back studying with their fellow friends.

Each of this cards are sold for $6 each or 3 for $15. These cards are limited edition as we only produce 50 of them. Quick and get this card before they run out :) :):) Each cards have different designs which make each and every one of them special !!!

Rita, an origami enthusiast volunteered by folding 78 Kimonos which projectSpring then arrange them as Art Cards. Below are example of the 9 Kimonos folded by Rita.

During MAAD August 2009, 78 Kimono will be displayed as an installation piece. Do drop by MAAD 2009 so that you won’t miss this special installation by Rita and projectSpring.

Each cards will be sold for $4 each or 3 for $10. Ribbons are optional for bookmark purpose.

projectSpring aims to raise fund and awareness through the artistic approach from both beneficiaries at CCF and public artists. Below is an example on how our cards are more than mere cards but a form of art.

These bookmarks are created out of 3 portions. One is the origami model, a geometric red piece of paper and yellow background. We aim to create a balanced piece of composition maximizing these three components and above are such examples. The color scheme are chosen following the complimentary colors from the color wheel adding to the further emphasis on the theme of balance.

Balance is derived from the overall theme of Spring and Oriental. The above 5 works are put up for sale on MAAD at 1st and 2nd August 2009 at redTraffic Museum, Maxwell Road.

For the past few months, projectSpring has been working very closely with the beneficiaries of CCF at KK Hospital and NUH. This coming weekend, projectSPring will be showcasing 2 huge canvases done by the children and volunteers at MAAD as part of the Their Dreams II exhibition.

Werewolf and Knight are two examples of mystical superheroes where they are almost always portrayed as strong and determined. Just like the children in CCF, they are likewise share the similar passion and characteristic. People might see them as disabled and sick just like how commoners see werewolf as evil and knight as fierce. In this two paintings, children and volunteers wish to show how in fighting cancer, both parties share the same aim and determination.

These paintings are both up for adoption. Do come down to MAAD on 1st and 2nd August 2009 at redTraffic Museum, Maxwell Road. Nearest MRT will be Tanjong Pagar. Or do drop us an email if you would like to enquire about these two pieces of work as well :)

Update! Project Spring just finished a couple more events, and we’re here to update you about them!

Ignite! Music Festival held at Republic Poly, 24th and 25th July. The CCF tulips, origami cards and ‘THEIR DREAMS’ adopt-a-painting sales was continued there and amidst the constant blast of the rock music, we managed to not only raise funds for CCF but also raise awareness about childhood cancer! Hopefully we’ve ignited some passion for CCF!

From this exhibition, we hope viewers understand that the beneficiaries at CCF are as talented and creative as any other kids out there. They are not disabled or physically untalented. We just have to take another step in helping them to fight the cancer they are fighting against.

Their Dreams will be at MAAD on August 1st and 2nd and we will be showcasing more of their works for adoption. Do drop by and support the beneficiaries at CCF :) :):)
